many races have had it just as bad, even much worse. every race has been hated, disrespected, and treated unfairly at some time in history. yet nobody cries like SOME black persons. the reality is, they have learned that the white population has members who are sensitive and ashamed of the slavery period in our history, and all they have to do is boo hoo and throw a temper tantrum and they get whatever they want. I guess most people would take advantage, after all if whites are going to be that stupid, why not milk it? right?
the fact is, statistically speaking, according to a recent FBI report on the race factor in crime, 9 of every 10 racial crimes was black crime against white victims. somehow, society has learned that doesn't matter, some american blacks must be mommy-coddled. understand that this doesn't apply to a large part of the black population that are great people who respect themselves enough and others not to behave that way. it is very frustrating for a myriad of people to see this type of manipulation. maybe jesse and al will someday work on something relevant.
a better question is why do some blacks choose to perpetuate and aggravate the problem by validating the word usage in their behavior and speech? a double standard is never a good policy.

For your information.... history is what made the world to what it is now. Even though the 'n-word' is said as a friendly gesture it still should not be used. I am of color and I am offended also when someone says or calls me a *****/******. And I also feel that you have no right to tell any1 that they should get over something expecially in this situation. How dare you! And wtf... how can you get upset. Other races get offended by negative words also. People just pay more attention to the black community. I have white friends who get highly upset from being called names like a cracker so that doesnt mean that only blacks get upset the most. My mexican/latino friend whooped *** when he was called a beaner and a boarder hopper. So you might wanna watch what you say because there's this thing called karma.

Your question shows your lack of knowledge. My suggestion is for you to go to college. The longer you stay undereducated the longer you stay oppressed.

As an answer to your question: Other races get upset at derogatory words as well. What does feeling important have to do with any of this? The N word is a serious word with a lot of deep-seated pain, suffering and oppression behind it. Whether or not we went through it personally, every black person can say that someone in their family suffered because of the actions associated with that word. It is a very powerful word. Don't get angry about it. Educate yourself.

You had a good reason until you mentioned about not caring about history, obviously I do. a History of over 300 years of such a word being used freely, a word used to mark us as insignificant creatures that aren't even considered human, degraded by that word along side with whips, sticks, stones, and fists. That word has forced us to be weakened in spirit and break in will to rise above it.

it really isn't fair that African Americans have that kind of history and others don't, because now people like you who don't have any concern for history will never understand how blacks feel about such a word.

But you are right about one thing, history is history, and we all should look forward to the future, and many like me wish for that future to leave such stupid name calling behind.

so if you really didn't care about history, why are you asking about this word?
did you test it out on a black person or did you see someone else go mouthing of such words?
is really that important for our opinion or are you just being a jerk?

I do not think it is appropriate to use any offensive words toward any minority or white individual.

Ask yourself: Why should black people take the word seriously?

Think about the other offensive names used for other people of color or for white people. Then do not use them.
If you do not say the N word or think the N word, it will no longer be an issue.

I can still remember when we had separate schools, bathroooms and drinking fountains for "white" and "colored."
It was not unsual for black people to die of simple illnesses of injuries because they were allowed to go to white hospitals.
Talk about "unfair."

It might be easy for you to say you don't care about history.

Ask the black people who went through that kind of treatment if they care about history.

I have never been through that kind of treatment, so I don't feel qualified to judge how someone should feel about it. But it's apparently very painful for a lot of people.

You don't care about history? Well if it wasn't for "history" the N word wouldn't have such a strong meaning. Go pick up a text book if you are really that confused.
