In the region that I am from we hug to say hello. So, I get hugged all of the time. May sound odd, but, it is a form of greeting here. Actually I like it, more personal than a handshake and a good hug feels really good!

Family reunion couple of months ago. Man I dont know y I still go to those lol. Any ways I got bunch of hugs and saying I remeber when u were just a baby. The same thing every year lol.

I'm not a demonstrative person. I can't remember the last time a member of my family and I hugged (I have no husband or children).
However, my ladies at work (I'm a carer) often want to give us hugs, it's a bit human contact for them, however uncomfortable hugging and kissing others are for me personally, I have a duty of care to my ladies (my gentlemen sometimes get a firm handshake) and that includes their need to feel close to someone.
Some of my clients never receive visitors, so they have to rely on the staff for that bit of friendliness.

Well my grandma and granddaddy gave me a hug today before I left their house. Probably only because I'm taking care of their pets for the next 2 weeks while they are on vacation.
