is the pokemon battle revolution game for the nintendo wii worth buying? and if i do get it do i need to buy the numchuck controller
thing to play?

Only buy it if you have the nintendo versions of it. If you don't, stay away because you will soon find it tedious and boring. Also the fact that the rental teams you get just suck.
You only need the wii mote to play.
