yes. there is a saying in spanish which explains this:
"Dime con quien andas, y te dire quien eres."
"Tell me who you walk with, and I'll tell you who you are"

unfortunately there is truth to this and my personal experience has told me this when I looked at my choices thru the years. I have grown matured and evolved and so have my associations. unfortunately they are fewer because my standards and sense of self are differant than they were when I was younger. If I had to do it over again as a youth I guess I'd hang out with whomever just for the experience but know you may be cutting yourself off as I did from people who would be of more value in the long run.

You are who you choose to be. If you end up making "bad" decisions because you followed a certain crowd, those are bad decisions. YOUR decisions. Not the troublesome crowd's decisions. If a person is too weak to think for themself, there is a much bigger problem than who they are hanging around.
Removing the person from the bad influence would only be a temporary fix, because you can't shelter a person for their entire life AND expect them to grow and develop into a productive person.

Oh its true, eventually you'll start thinking that what they do, or the words they use arent so bad after all. Its called desensitization and it happens to everyone of us. Remember when Jerry Springer first came out and it was so shocking but now its just plain boring and old news??

I do believe your friends define who you are. If you run with well behaved people, you will be well behaved. If your friends are druggies, you will be too. Peer pressure is intense. When my daughter changed friends in high school, things went downhill until I insisted she drop the loser friends. Unfortunately her old friends were reluctant to take her back. They did not trust her anymore. It took a long time for them to allow her back into their group.

NO, you make your own life, if you decide to follow their footsteps it's up to you. Cause nobody puts a gun to your head to do what they want. Not unless they want to robb you or kill you.
