Or to put it another way, what line (in your mind) gets crossed to become sexually perverse?

Question inspired by Marquis de Sade. Made me wonder how people define what normal really is.

So Boss, would a person having a sex with a dead horse not be perverse in your eyes (as intent and malice are lacking)?

The verb 'pervert' means "to change the natural use of." You specifically tie your question to sexuality, but that encompasses a broad spectrum of behavior.

An example of perversity is pedophilia. Empirical data demonstrates sexuality exists for purposes of reproduction. Children are "naturally" incapable of reproduction, hence, sexual relations with children is perverse.

Against this, one might argue there are adults incapable of producing children, but that misfires because it attempts to define the rule by the exception. Most rules have exceptions, but the exceptions cannot define the rule because you cannot have an exception unless you have a rule.

Pedophilia violates the Natural Law and it is most definitely perverse.

That's an interesting question. The line between abnormal and normal changes greatly depending on the situation, so there's no real set answer. The best answer i can give you is that you cross the line when whatever action is inappropriate for the current situation.
For example, horse necrophilia is generally considered inappropriate no matter the situation, but then again i don't know what people might consider appropriate.

When something is malicious or with ill intent then I would presume it is perverse.

To answer your question to me, I would say it is very misguided and sick to have sex with a dead horse, but if the inspiration for such an act is simply loneliness, or attraction, then I would not call it perverse.

There is a joke " To do it with a feather is erotic , to do it with the hole chicken is perverted " and basically any thing that is far flanged or could hurt some one ( unless approved of ) is thought of as perverted by the general public because is some thing that generally is thought of with bad taste or bad feelings in disgust , consequently abnormal.

Anytime you have to question what is sexually perverse you have gone beyond the norm. And usually what is beyond the norm is only acceptable because it is uncontrollable by the laws that govern societies.

Everything is normal. We just pretend some of it isn't.
