Hi, you need to get set up with Google Webmaster tools (http://www.google.com/webmasters/). You'll have to add a meta tag to your home page to administer the account, but once it's all set up, you'll have an option to set your preferred listing style (www.forexample.com / forexample.com).

I hope this helps.

Oh, and PS: Regarding Algerian, who posted before me. Paying for listings or guaranteed placement is called Black Hat SEO. No one controls the natural search algorithm, and so guaranteeing placement is not possible.

Well the domain name is forexample.com the www just stands for world wide web and isn't actually part of the domain name.

If you domain doesn't work either way
forexample.com and www forexample.com your host needs to fix the dns records (its just a simple entry!)

So if your site shows both places it wont make any difference which way google shows it.
