Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Lenin all wanted a "dictatorship of the proletariat". This would be a society in which the factory workers would rule. But Mao Zedong placed the peasants at the center of the revolution. This makes sense because there were few factory workers in China at the time. Also traditionally Communism was against powerful states. The state was supposed to "wither away". But China under him was nationalistic. He supported "political wars" in other countries instead of "class warfare". I hope that this has been a help to you.
