only economically speaking. this part of the state/country is in deep water.
Detroit is a beautiful city in many ways. It has a large historical beginning and for the most part the folks there are great and friendly people. There is "bad" parts of every town, Detroit just has a bad rep due to the past. Give it a try, I ALWAYS enjoy going there and have NEVER had a bad experience.

Does anyone who answered live anywhere remotely near Detroit? *laughs* The city is far from a ghost town. The last few years they have really been working hard to fix it up and attract a different type of crowd. It's nowhere near a Chicago or a Toronto, but there are lots of things to do and it's not nearly as dangerous as everyone makes it out to be as long as you use some common sense as to where you venture.

As a interior of reach Detroiter, i will inform you that the city of Detroit has been in difficulty for a protracted time. it particularly is going to likely be stated that the city is making a comeback and that its an excellent place to stay....which would be real interior the on the spot downtown section around the Ren Cen, Hart Plaza, Comerica Park, Ford container, etc. yet pass a pair of miles outdoors of the downtown section and its no longer something yet a rats nest or perhaps the rats are leaving!. the present administration has completed no longer something to enhance Detroit....all they have completed is take from the city and that they could desire to be embarrassed approximately themselves. My mum and dad the two grew up in Detroit in the process the melancholy and via the conflict and undergo in innovations it being a mandatory, wholesome place. the vehicle factories retooled for the conflict attempt and Detroit surely became doing alright for itself. regrettably, the extreme problems with the vehicle agencies isn't helping concerns, as Detroit, besides as maximum of Michigan, is so deeply rooted in them that as they pass, so does Michigan.

NO! this city is more busy than most cities in california or florida. i still live here i think i should know. It might have bad things about it, but what city doesnt have any bad things about it? thats natural. You cant expect the city to be perfect if the people arent perfect. Detroit is building up and in 5 years it will be growing. just watch!

Yes. Because the auto industry is imploding onto itself and the number of unemployed far exceeds the number of jobs, everyone is leaving...quickly. Including yours truly. One newfound cliche I've heard is "last person to leave Michigan, turn the lights off."

Michigan itself is becoming a ghost state, sad but true.

It is still going downhill, and has vast areas that look like a war passed through, (seriously), and that is too sad, because it was once a very nice and cultural city, that still has so much potential. It is the biggest city in the area and still 'calls the shots', (though many of them might be aimed at you).

It sure is. No one wants to live their unless they absolutely have to. Its very slop. Run down. Nothing to do. I'm leaving Michigan for good on August 11th and I can't wait to go.

It's getting worse... I don't know about the term "Ghost Town" though. (PS: the comment above was really unnecessary)
