It takes time for a fish to settle into his new environment, and is completely normal for them not to eat right away when you get them home

I also hope that you have at least a 2.5 gallon filtered and heated tank!!!!!!!!!!
Because in a vase or bowl you will dramatically shorten his life, they usually live only up to 2 years in such an environment
In a heated tank, proper size and proper care, they can get up to 7 years old
If you have a tank, you should also provide some real plants, they love to rest on them

Hope that helps
Good luck

it's not abnormal for a fish to not eat the first week it's brought home. all the moving around is very stressful.

also, be sure you're providing a proper home. this means not a bowl or vase. bettas can survive in these conditions but they will not thrive. they need just as much care as any other fish to thrive. for the healthiest possibly beta be sure you're providing her at least 2.5gallons of heated and filtered water.

Maybe its taking its time to settle in to the new environment. Wait for another day and then feed it- it may be full already(in which case its been overfed. One of my bettas refused to eat anything but ants at first, but later it accepted flakess and betta pellets.
