Sure it sucks. Any imposed power in any form and shape is unacceptable.

Consider this: if the press hadn't constantly badgered Clinton, publishing every story they could to make splashy headlines, when often they were just speculation or innuendo with very little supporting facts, Clinton would have had more time to devote to combating terrorism. Don't you think his attention was often distracted due to having to defend himself from a vicious press?

Imagine if JFK's marital infidelities with Marilyn Monroe had been published. The press knew about them, but they had a policy of respect and self-restraint back then that is sorely lacking today. Imagine if they published these stories around the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. As it was, JFK was living on pain medication and sleeping pills, so add a media scandal and the Cuban Missile Crisis could have ended in disaster.

The slimy, unprincipled New York Times has printed dozens of articles our government has requested they not publish. Most of these stories have very little with the public's right to know. For example, in banking circles, it was well known that the U.S. was monitoring suspicious transfers that indicated terrorist activity. However, the terrorists were not savvy enough to know this........until the New York Times graciously published an article and let the terrorists know!

Censorship is not the right word. What we need is a press that has a level of self restraint, as they did back in the days of JFK.

I believe in censorship only when it pertains to salvaging the inoccence of child hood or anything that is public. But if you pay for somthing like cable or internet then they should be uncensored. If i'm paying for it then F*ck Censorship!

If you let someone censor what you see, hear, read, watch or say, the next thing they will try to censor is what you think (soon followed by when, where, what and with whom you go or do). Yes, there should be "age appropriate interventions" , but once an adult, hands off.
