I will tell you only one principle ~ that is the very basic one of all the basic principles.
You should Learn how to learn - then u can learn any thing and every thing.

You have only FIVE ways to learn anything: you SEE it [like words in a book], HEAR it [like a song], SMELL it [like smelling good food that YOU are cooking], TASTE it [you can taste the difference between a glass ball and a steel ball but you can't smell it] and TOUCH [silk vrs. cotton, or any physical sport]. Use as many of these 5 senses as often as possible and your brain "Remembers" best.
It all comes down to Repitition and Memorizing, but in an enjoyable surrounding. That's how you learn Math, any foreign language, play the piano, ride a bike, be an expert wine taster, etc. .
