y'know...sometimes i think that way, too.
but a nap with the cat in my lap usually lightens my mood.
and a glass of milk and some cookies certainly will cure most heavy thinking.
life is short, for sure...and time stops for no man, and no thing (well the physist will argue about the intense gravity of a black hole effecting time, perhaps stoping it in certain vicinities of the cosmose, but that is another subject all together.)
so i try to enjoy each day as it comes, nothing i do is so important that folks 50 years from now will give a rat's behind anyway, so i may as well experience joy and happiness...and that is a subject in itself...
it is all about the journey, not so much the destination.

No, if you would be a bug, you would not be able to think about time and also not take a stand towards your existence in relationship to meaning. I do not believe a bug ever asks itself, why it lives. It just exists.
Only humans can and want to transcend to something above their ego.
That you are able to ask yourself about the why and where and after, it means that there is a why a where and after, otherwise if it would not exist, you would not be able to think about that.

Added to that I have not seen one bug being able to read and write. -:)

I think I understand what you mean... I believe that the memory of us is erased by death, but our consciousness never dies because it keeps "circulating" through people even after you are dead. I guess what I am saying is that there is a collective consciousness that can never die.

In one sense perhaps. But we are also time & death, so there is no vicitim as we are doing this to ourselves.... endlessly.
