The terror alert was constantly being raised and lowered in the months prior to the 2004 election. The reasons for raising the level were often nonsensical, and never involved any specific, or even vague, threat. As soon as the elections were over, the level was basically left unchanged for months.
Ditto gas prices. They PLUNGED in the weeks leading up to the 2006 election. GOP talking heads said it was "market forces" and that those same forces would continue driving prices downward well into the spring and summer months. But, surprise, surprise, the WEEK the election was over, gas prices zoomed back up and didn't stop until they hit new record highs.

Considering that I haven't heard what the terror alert level is since 2002, It is extremely difficult to believe ANYONE is raising it for political reasons.

Do you mean, like the boy who cried wolf ?
No body knows what these fanatics have up their sleaves when the chatter starts, but we failed to respond once before when it was loud and persistant, and got caught up in 9/11.
I don't believe this administration will let that happen, again !

I don't think they do it everytime, but at times over the last 6 years especially before the 2004 election it seemed to be just that.

No because we are not the only country that uses the terror alert system and being over here in Iraq he usually is on point with the alerts(probably the only thing he gets right..lol). It is a dangerous state we Americans and others like Britain are in right now. Just continue to pray that we fight a good fight of here in Iraq so we can come home. ---Your fellow American Soldier!

Yes, the terror level always seems to go up for awkward moments, like Scooter Libby's trial and Gonzales' testimony before Congress. I haven't kept an exact timeline, but it seems like the frequency of these "coincidences" has been too high - or perhaps the administration is having too many awkward moments...

No I don't think so, im sure they accidentally raise it when it doesn't need to be, but they try their best to do it when necessary (like when getting intellegence on potential attacks).
Sometimes the intellegence can be wrong but it can be right too for all we know.
Just like ok yes most Bomb threats that are made, turn out to be hoaxes, but all are taken seriously because you never know when someone is serious.

When the Jihadis wave your daughter's severed head while shouting Allah Akbar, will you be as confidently smug in your pretense that there are NOT thousands of these maggots who openly promise and constantly plot to kill ALL of us?

Well, back when he wasn't issuing terror alerts, the left was whining because he wasn't keeping the public informed.

They raise the alert because they think it's fun. They get punchy after their noon drink. They hold bets on who will raise the terror alert first.
