What is an executive producer and what does (s)he do?

The Executive Producer is the Producer who manages the money for the film production and tries to keep the actors and Directors on a time schedule. They are also involved with the marketing and advertising for the movies. They are a lot like the director in that respect but they make few decisions in the way of how the movie comes out but a lot of decisions about if the movie comes out and when. They are not just the people who pay for everything. Every producer contributes money but the executive producer runs things.

I believe that the job of the executive producer is to raise money for the film. I have recently written a book titled "Love's Soft Voice" and the release date was 7/23/07. It is avaliable on www.amazon.com and I want it to someday become a movie so I did some research about film making.
