Leave the fish in the tank, as said, it can be very stressfull to the fish to remove them. Ditch the ph drops, you don't need them. Most ph altering chemicals do more harm than good anyway. The only thing you have to add to your tapwater to make it just fine for most fish dechlorinater.

My friends all left them in the tank, careful not to let the suction of the siphon scare them or get too close. The pH drops go in AFTER all the water is back in the tank, or it will not be correct after dilution, or if you add enough to be okay after filling, but do it before filling, the amount of it will make the water toxic until dilution, not cool if you leave the fish in the tank to swap out half the water, eh?

Just get a gravel siphon and do a partial waterchange of 25% weekly
Don't touch the ph, if your fish are healthy it's fine the way it's, I made that mistake once, I thought my pH is to high, I brought it down, and as soon as I did that some of my fish started dying

Why do you want to do a 50% water change anyway?
Are you having ammonia problems in your tank?

If so, do a 50% waterchange right away, and repeat with parital waterchanges of 25% every 3 days until your ammonia level is at 0

Hope that helps
Good luck

you should leave them in the tank they will be just fine. As far as the ph drops you may want to take a cup of water and mix it in there and then add it to the tank this way it is somewhat disolved befor it goes in the tank.

Catching the fish may damage or stress the fish so leaving them in is best. any adjustments to the water going in (temp, dechlorinator or PH drops) should be done before adding so that it is diluted and the fish aren't eating(er,drinking) the concentrated drops .

You can take them out and put them in a boul or cleaned out ice cream bucket. It won't scare them at all. Put the ph drops in the water after cleaning it out.

it dosent matter wut you do with the fish. the ph drops it is important to put that in the new water a few days before you change the water. if it hasnt fully disolved in the water it can make the fish sick.
