Dreams have to be interprested symbolically. E.g. the person who looks like your mother in a dream is not necessarily your real material mother, but it is most probably you own passive side that is talking to you. in the same way a dream of destruction, is most of the times a destruction that is happenning around (or within your belief system) and not real physical destruction from the past or the future.
Jung has a lot of good material (some of it is on the web) on the meanings of these (almost universal) symbols.

the process to interpret your dreams (which by the way only you can do yourself) is as following:

1. Remember the event in the dream. How did it make you feel?
2. Look at your own life in recent times. When did you feel exactly like in the dream? what caused that feeling (the real event).
3. Establish a link between the dream and the real event (why is your subconsciousness relating the two things?)

if you want the dream to go away, and calm your subconsciousness just do the above process followed by thinking deeply about the possible problem you have and do a thing (anything) to solve it (even if just partially).

Dreams have several symbolic meanings usually it's particular to that person. There are general interpretive meanings but what you really need to do is keep a dream journal. Keep a notebook by your bed and as you wake up immediately write down your dream with as much detail as you can, Also write down your interpretations and feelings of what this dream means. Check it now and again. Has anything happened in real life that could relate to a past dream? Over time you should start to see some patterns come out which will make your dreams another helpful part of your subconcious.Sweet Dreams, Morpheus.

That all depends on what it is you are dreaming , dreams can warn against something happening or just be the subcoincience going into overdrive and also things on your mind that bother you. Although if you are dreaming of an event over and over it is more likely imminent to happen the more often you see it in a dream(like a premonition) could actually occur.

Recurring Dreams

Recurring dreams repeat themselves with little variation in story or theme. These dreams may be positive, but most often they are nightmarish in content. Dreams may recur because a conflict depicted in the dream remains unresolved or ignored. Once you have found a resolution to the problem, your recurring dreams will cease.

No, most likely not, it may but that is rare, most likely it is all of your thaughts you have had through the day added up into one place: You'r subconcious, if you really concentrate on that dream you may figure out why exactly you're having it.
