I'm Wiccan. I practice magick. Is it the same thing?

Witchcraft is simply performing rituals to further improve our or someone elses lives or to improve and thank the Earth. To do this, one can use magick if they so choose.

It depends on your point of view.

I'd be happy to answer any further questions you have. Just contact me =)

The Bible doesn't actually say anything against witches or magic.

"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." (Exodus 22:18) was mistransctibed to please King James,

chasaph is the Hebrew for poisoner and not witch as it is written in the English bible.

or depending on the version m'khashepah may be used in the Hebrew and that means a woman who uses spoken spells to harm others, but again that doesn't mean a witch nor does it mean magic.

Magic and Witchcraft are neither good or bad, the way they are used dictated the outcome. If they are used with malus then they will be bad and harmful, but used positivity they can help people.

No matter if we are talking magic, magick, witchcraft, spells, satanism, or whatever it may be, the questions are the same:

1. Is it real, and does it work? Stage magic is 'real' in the sense that it exists and works the way it should- but it is based in simple physics and psychology. Witchcraft, voodoo, etc. has not been shown to exist or work in controlled conditions (or even in real life much).

2. What is the source of the power, or what is believed to be the source of the power? This is what makes it God-ly or not. If the practitioner is calling upon Satan, the Goddess, earthen gods, or the 'power of nature'/Gaia, then they are seeking a power apart from God and it is not to be done or allowed.

Stage magic uses simple science and understanding human nature to work. It may involve deceit and trickery- but not in a way meant to belittle or defraud a person.

3. What is the goal? If you work a spell to circumvent God's will or plan, or the way His planet works, etc., then it is wrong. Love spells, curses, weather magic, etc. are all designed to circumvent God's will.

Stage magic is designed to amuse, inspire, amaze, etc. It is sometimes used for wrong-headed reasons, but the main thrust is just fun.

Stage magic existed in the times of Moses and further back. When a Biblical prophet was faced with a stage magician, the magician was usually shown up- but was not cursed or condemned for their use of tricks- but instead for their lack of faith or for serving the wrong side.

Magic is something a magician does, magick is something that a witch does. I'm not completely sure about the Bible but I think there's something in there about sorcery which would be considered magick by Christian people. I mean if Harry Houdini, David Blane and Chris Angel will burn in hell for eternity for entertainment there may be something wrong with Christianity. lol.

Witchcraft is a religion that embraces the use of Magik. Do you want to learn Witchcraft or Magik? Magik is only a small part of Witchcraft.
Also do you want to learn 'spells' or true Magik?
Who care what the bible says, its only a silly little cult. :-) The world is much bigger than a book.

as someone who grew up catholic
and has now chosen Wicca
I can say i honestly don't believe in the devil
bad people with no conscience and an unwillingness to be responsible for the harm done to others are in the end a bad person
the devil is a diversion from facing actions that are negative and harmful
SO HOW DOES WICCA WORSHIP SOMETHING THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IN?
Simple...they don't!

the christian church does not believe in magic, magic can be considered under witchcraft,(which christians believe to be evil) so if you are interested I suggest a change of religion to wicca or something silimar,it has different beliefs, wiccan do not believe in heaven or hell, devil or anything like that.

no, "magic" as most people think of is not real, witchcraft for most of its talk and up is mostly a mental thing, meaning that its what we believe will happen and what we do that will make this happen. It is mostly a visual thing, so its not like poof your a frog!

To a secular person a miracle appears to be magic, but it is the hand of YHWH doing it. Gideon
