I think americans pronounce it incorrectly....they always saw it like "Raouling" or like a fight/row...rowling.....I have always pronounced it like "Rolling".....correct me if I'm wrong!

We had a prime minister here in New Zealand who was also named Rowling and it was pronounced like I said it (Rolling).....I think I say it the British way....which to me is the correct way.
I just assume its one of those weird old English names that are not pronounced like its said (eg southwick is said suthic )and many americans tend to be more literal with them than other places.

Ok just to make a point.....we get a lot of american TV here and EVERY time I have heard it on TV, by americans, its been pronounced " Raouling"......maybe the presenters ( eg E news, CNN etc) meed to say it correctly and I would not "make snap judegments" about how americans say it......its why I was asking the question, to clarify this point!
