so far, no one has been able to determine who was the character that performed magic late in life, under distress.. it's either a very vague reference, or she omitted it entirely.. we'll have to wait a little and see what she finally discloses in future interviews.
Harry's eyes are important because they served, for snape, as a constant reminder of his un-requited love of Lily Evans. That's why he stared into Harry's eyes as he died, he wanted to die looking into his love's eyes (even if they were in harry's head, which is quite creepy, now I think upon it)......His eyes were the tool that dumdledore used to convince snape to help protect harry.

I'm not sure about the answer to that question, but I think I can help you with your other question: "Also what was the significance of Harry's eyes being like his mothers that was said to be important as well, but didn't seem to be to me."
After reading Chapter 33 ("The Prince's Tale") where Harry sees Snape's memories in the Pensieve and learns how very much Snape loved Lily, I remembered Snape's last words to Harry before he died: "Look...at...me..." The next lines are "The green eyes found the black..." I believe that the last thing that Snape wanted to see before he died were Harry's eyes, which we have been told since the first book, were so much like his mother's.
Harry's eyes reminded Snape of Lily and how much he loved her and - perhaps more importantly - how much he hated Voldemort for killing her. That - and perhaps only that - motivated Snape to help Dumbledore and Harry. Snape hated James Potter, and Harry looked very much like James, except for those eyes. Thank goodness for those eyes!

I can't answer your main question. I really have no idea.
But as regards Harry's eyes, well it concerns Snape really. When he realized that Voldemort interpreted the prophecy to pertain to the Potter's, he ran to Dumbledore to seek his help in protecting Lily. When Voldemort killed Lily, Snape was devastated. Dumbledore then said her son survived and would be in mortal danger once Voldemort returns. He then drummed it on Snape that Harry got Lily's eyes. And along with his undying love for Lily, it was the physical driving force for Snape to continue his vow to protect Harry.
Even his dying line was "Look...at...me...." He wanted one last look at Lily's eyes through Harry's. Most touching part of the book.

I wondered about that too. I thought it's be Filch or Figg, but I didn't see anything.
The eye thing...Snape loved Lily. Harry had Lily's eyes. He was seeing Lily's eyes as he drew his last breath. Thought it was kinda beautiful.
