What is the biggest secret you were ever asked to keep?

Did you keep that secret? Why or why not?

(This feedback will hopefully be used as informal research to help me gain some general perspective on a topic that is often difficult for people to talk about. People generally have strong feelings one way or the other about secrets. Your experience is greatly appreciated! Thank you!)

Let's see, it was in 1980 that I and a shipmate were doing a job in the supply office of our ship. He saw a message on the SUPPO's desk marked SECRET and read it. It said that our ship was leaving for Diego Garcia on 1 April. I swore him to secrecy and I never told a soul. The info was announced about a week later. We had 30 days to do a complete load out and get underway for about 6 months. Diego Garcia (aka BIOT...British Indian Ocean Territory) is an atoll in the Indian Ocean south west of India.

I don't think I've been asked to keep extremely large secrets. One secret I was asked to keep (and did) had to do with a legal matter. I kept the secret because I deeply respect the person whose secret I kept, and also because telling the secret would have only been idle gossip.

Well about 12 years ago my-ex sister-in-law told my wife and my self that the job she has (had) was as a nude dancer,oh shucks I just told someone the seceret.
