Stored passwords are inaccessable by users. They are encrypted and even the owner of the passwords are unable to access and view them. Sorry to inform you of this limitation, but it is set up this way as a means of protection.

The area of the Registry where they are stored is unaccessable via permissions. Even if you were able to view the Registry key were they are stored you wouldn't be able to make sense of them as they are encrypted.

Sorry, it is just the way Windows stores them. I actually prefer it this way as I feel a lot safer knowing not a single soul, even myself, can access my passwords.

This is also why if you forget your User password and need another user with an administrator account to take ownership of your files that all password protected files are inaccessable. While an administrator can take ownership, it deletes every single password, and the files are no longer accessable by anyone. Because the files were taken over even the last owner could not access these types of files because that owner is no longer the owner. Which is why such passwords are deleted.

Files protected with the Encrypted File System are the only files safe from prying eyes. They are the only files administrators can't access even by taking ownership.

Other files not password protected would be accessable by whomever took ownership. So, if for some reason a user forgot their password, all is not lost. An administrator can take ownership of the profile and therefore the files, and copy them to another profile of they choose. So, if you forgot your account password and needed to access your data, an administrator would delete your old account, take ownership of all the data files, then create a new account and transfer the data to that account giving ownership back to the original owner. However, all password protected files are lost.

Even were you to open your cookies to view the data in them your password is encrypted. You won't be able to get your password off the cookie. However, if you wish to try, go here:

Start-All Programs-Accessories-Windows Explorer-Documents and Settings-Your Name-Local Setting-Temporary Internet Files.

You will find all of your current cookies in that folder.

Good luck and have a great day!
