I have never been asked for ID using a debit card. They usually have you swipe it yourself and enter your PIN. You can use it to withdraw cash, too.
By the way, I have a credit card with my picture on it. The back says in black marker "CHECK MY ID". My bf has used my card and never been asked for ID either.

If you are old enough and it is not too late. Have the bank issue a debit card in your own name. (Make sure you tell the bank to deliver the card and pin info to the bank branch and only release it to you or your mother). I would not trust a thief to watch my kids. The "see id" is not accepted at a lot of places, they will refuse to take it. Some places require id to be shown when making the purchase.

No one actually looks at your card anymore. That said, the 'thief' can do more damage with the card than with cash. If he takes $100 in cash, he only gets $100. If he takes the debit card, he can clean out the account AND overdraw the account. Overall, the cash is actually safer. just don't let your family thief near your wallet.

My brother's friend used to steal money out of my room. I got a keyed lock door knob. The best way for her to leave you money is cash, or she could give you her pin number and pay by debit instead of credit.

if it's her debit card get the pin, they usually don't ask for i.d. if you have the pin otherwise use the debit card to go to the ATM and get money when you need it. Keep the extra money in your bra, no decent family member will search there to steal.

Just take the debit to an ATM and get the cash from there. Make sure she tells you her pin and you memorize it, so even if the person steals it, they can't use it.

Traveler's checks. Just don't keep the receipts in the same place as the check. that way if the get lost or stolen, you can use your receipt to file your claim and get your money back.

Simply ask her to issue you a cheque so it can be credited into your acc.
