Hey guys. My younger sister is the captain of the girls varsity basketball team and she got injured about 3 weeks ago. When she was playing their record was 6 wins-1 loss and now that she's injured they lost 13 games in a row. She feels very depressed because her team needs her. Now it's been 3 weeks after her injury and what had happened was that her knee cap dislocated and she tore her lateral ligaments. She went to the hospital a week ago after all of the swelling went down to get her knee cap pushed back. She can walk a little bit and is doing some physical therapy and she's sick and tired of watching her team lose but she's not healed yet. Do you know any way to get her to heal faster?

The important thing is for your sister to heal completely. Tell her not to push too hard and try to come back too soon. She should go with the program that her doctors and therapists give her. If she comes back too soon, she might hurt her knee even worse and make her recovery longer, or worse, end her athletic career. This has happened to many athletes, please tell her there will be other seasons for her to play.
