This courses a split in a group, but why or how is Ricky Gervais funny, I love comedy, i have a great sense of humour. But i can't seem to laugh at him, so why do people call him a king of comedy?

Doesn't strike my funny bone. He has a long way to go before he reaches Benny Hill status.

I liked him on the original Office but his show Extras on HBO isn't great. Although the episode with Kate Winslett talking dirty was really funny.
I think Steve Carell is funnier on the American version of The Office than Ricky Gervais was on the original.

It's just how he is perceived...Everyone doesn't find him funny...Just depends on your comedic intake level. There is lots of stuff I don't find humerous that others do and vice versa.
Gervais isn't my cup of tea so to speak.
