From my expierence, you cannot format ALL of the at the SAME time, you have to do one at a time.
I use a program called Q-Tech which loads at boot in the cd rom drive. Has a util that erases the HDD back to factory defaults.
OR
Grab a 98se boot disk and format away. Make sure that you get the 98se boot disc as it has the "large partition" format for larger drives.
