Several years ago, Oprah was sued by the beef/cattle ranchers for saying she'd never eat beef again. She had a show about it and how it's butchered and produced and packaged.
The beef industry didn't like this and took her to court. She continued to do her show during this time and it's then when she met Dr. Phil who "coached" her on how to act. Oprah won the case. Then she started having Dr. Phil on her show every Tuesday. He eventually got his own show due to the popularity of being on her show. You can imagine she had the "best" lawyers money could buy.

There's nothing in the news about Oprah going to jail. However, if you heard a blurb it's entirely possible that she visited a prison to conduct an interview. She has done this several times in the past, and wants to interview the imprisoned wife beater she profiled a month or so ago - perhaps that helps.

I haven't heard that she went to jail. but there was a article in the newspaper today about how her dog died. it's was pretty sad story!

If she did for committing a crime, the media would have a field day. When she was out and cleared, she'd dedicate two episodes to the ordeal.
