If you did not pay any or part of the child support on the
child(ren), in question, then, yes, should someone want to
request some ''back child-support", it CAN BE COLLECTED
AFTER the child(ren), become 18 or older....
I had a brother, who had married again, and he drew
disability pay, veteran's disability...and it didn't cover all
the cost of the child support, and when his ''new wife'' filed
income tax, The IRS took HER MONEY, FOR ''HIS CHILD
SUPPORT''. This happens too, all across America, where
someone else is having to be responsible, for someone
else's responsibilities...
The child, in question, was about 38, at the time, when the
child support was collected in full. The IRS took this
one woman's income taxes for a couple of years...after that.

No, I don't but I don't have children.
People should only have to pay child support up to the age of majority. (Which is 18 is 46 states) UNLESS, stipulated in the support paperwork that the parents will pay for or partially pay for a college education up until the age of 22.

What do your divorce papers say? No two child support orders are alike. It depends on what the couple hashed out in court and what was decided upon. Some have to pay support as long as the child is in school and living with the custodial parent until they are 24. Some support orders are until the child is 18, some are until the child is 21. Some are until the child is of a certain age or "otherwise emancipates themself from the custodial home" that means leave the residence of the custodial parent (running away, moving out on their own prior to their 18th, getting married prior to their 18th). One has to go by what THEIR particular court orders say. Mine say that my ex has to pay child support until my daughter is 24 as long as she is in school and living under my roof and does not get married, he also has to pay her college tuition, I pay for her books and educational materials.

It depends on your own state's laws.
There are laws in 10 states that permit courts to order parents to pay some portion of a child's post-secondary educational expenses. These states are:
Colorado
Hawaii
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Massachusetts
Missouri
New York
Oregon
Washington
Additionally, Utah and the District of Columbia permit courts to order child support payments (not just educational expenses) to continue until the child's 21st birthday.
Outside of these 12 states, courts have issued conflicting rulings on the authority of judges to order child support payments after the age of majority. For example, judges in New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, and South Carolina have found this authority in those states' general child support laws. But Pennsylvania's Supreme Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional to order divorced parents to support offspring after they reach adulthood.

No, but if you agree to pay through college you are looking at 21 or 22 years old. Most father's pay until the "child" is 18, that is the law. But you know what, a parent is a parent forever. You can always treat them, give them your love and that would be forever!

NOT IN CALIFORNIA! I DONT KNOW WHAT STATE YOU LIVE IN, BUT ONCE THE CHILD IS 18 YOU NO LONGER HAVE TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT. ALTHOUGH THAT DOESNT MEAN YOUR CHILD NO LONGER NEEDS THAT MONEY. IF YOUR CHILD IS GOING TO COLLEGE YOU SHOULD BE HELPING THEM DO SO. I AM 21 AND MY DAD STILL HELPS OUT EVEN MORE NOW THEN WHEN HE DID PAY CHILD SUPPORT. BUT IF OWE BACK CHILD SUPPORT THEN YOU PAY UNTIL ITS ALL PAID OFF. MY DAD STILL OWS 30,000 FOR HIS

depends on what state your in! In texas no, you don't, but if you owe back pay you have to pay that until its paid up, and you have to continue to pay child support if you have a child that is disabled; such as mentally or physically. Call your local attorney generals office or visit their website.
