The same issues that continue to confuse officials to this day in 2007... ... The rights of the ordinary masses versus the smaller classes of elite, the rich who own the land and can say what they will do with the landed - - - in this situation the 'Diggers' felt that long held rights were being trampled upon - - - that the Government of King James the 1st was favoring the Landowners in violation of long held traditions & practices. Then as now the Government respionce was the threaten to jail and/or kill those 'protesting,' which is often interpretted saying anything against established authorty (see America under Geo W )...
