Many families visit Cancun every year and love it. Stay a resort that caters to families like the RIU properties, The Great Parnassus, Iberostar Paraiso Maya, Gran Bahia Principe Tulum etc. Check with your travel agent who can list off many you can chose from.

I have been to Cancun a couple of times and I think its THE best destination in Mexico, with Cabo on the West coast being second. The tourist hotel area in Cancun is set up perfectly with all of the hotels in one location called the "Hotel District". Its like a 5 mile of so long beach full of ocean front hotels. Then there are several shopping malls along the hotel strip and there are also a variety of restaurants. You can get around easily on the Jitney mini-buses that run continuously along the district. They run about $1. US each (3 pesos) person and will drop you at any hotel or restaurant.
Cancun, in my opinion, has the pretties beaches in Mexico and there are a variety of activities on them like para-sailing, jet ski, banana boat rides, and the like right on the beach at the hotels. But there are no amusement parks or other things that teens may like other than the beach stuff.

I would recommend an all-inclusive hotel especially if you drink. Another advantage is you are much more secure there. I have taken my family and we have always had a good time. The all-inclusive hotels have everything you need from bottled water to shampoo and cream rinse in the rooms. Most also have private beaches. Many have teen clubs where teens go to dance. No alcohol is served and they are supervised by hotel personnel. I would look at rates in Playa-del Carmen. Just a short bus ride from the Cancun Airport which is provided by the hotel.

I would definitely recommend I took my 4 kids twice and they loved it at the time they were 9, 10, 13 and 15. There is so much to do and you would be surprised at how many families bring kids. The first time we went I was nervous that there wouldn't be anything for young kids but there wasn't one day where we didn't have something to do and we stayed for 10 days. We did everything from snorkeling, a submarine ride , fishing,ferry to Cozumel, Shopping, ferry to the island and exploring the island by golf carts which the kids loved there is a endless amount of things to do with kids go and have a great time!

Yeah i just got back from Cancun and you can take your family there. Just get an all inclusive hotel so that you wont have to go out much. There are water parks that you can visit as well. I would say though not to go in the downtown area, it is too busy and it looks as though everyone is watching you looking to rob you or something.

It's a very nice place. The beaches are beautiful. From there you may want to go visit the nearby islands, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel. Have fun.

Exelent place , U will have fun, as for the kids under no sircumstanses let your kids accept invitations to go to a party with strangers
