It means to lay together one behind the other (as in the picture provided earlier). The idea is that the bodies fit together like spoons fit together.

Spooning is when the person lies behind you in the same position you are and where your bodies are touching and they hold you.

Like when you put two spoons together and they sit comfortable within each other.

Thats why its called SPOONing
