When I turn my computer on, a startup menu appears asking if I want to restart my computer using safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration, or start windows normally. I've tried all of them. After I select one, the windows start up screen appears like it's loading then a blue screen appears saying there is some sort of unmountable bbot volume and a bunch of other stuff. This only appears for two seconds and the computer shuts off and automatically starts up again.

I haven't added anything new. My computer froze while I was on the internet, so I reset it and that's when it wouldn't start correctly.

try to boot from cd, you might have to change boot settings in the bios to allow this, and repair your o/system installation.

sounds like your MBR has become corrupted.

Easy way to rectify is to boot from your windows disk, and use the repair facility to rewrite it. Don't use the auto repair, do it manually.

this can be done by using the "fixboot" or "fixmbr" command from the command prompt (the black screen).

before you do though, it would be a good idea to "chkdsk" your PC first. Simply type "chkdsk" into the same command prompt. let the PC run through its checks and then try the fixmbr command.

Once it's rewritten, restart your PC and hopefully it should boot up ok.

*footnote* I would be a little careful about the state of your drive though, your MBR should last the life of your system, if that IS what the problem is, you should look to invest in a new Hard Drive.

Let me know if you need further instructions and I will help where I can.
