University of Colorado regents will decide whether to fire professor Ward Churchill after a special meeting and hearing Tuesday.
The firebrand professor first sparked controversy in 2005 with his essay on Sept. 11, 2001, that compared some victims of the terrorist attacks to a notorious Nazi.
A CU investigative committee last year concluded that Churchill invented facts, plagiarized entire works and misrepresented the authorship of articles.
"I expect to be fired," Churchill said in an e-mail to the Camera on Thursday
"I think it's been clear for a long time that Ward Churchill is a buffoon and a charlatan without any scholarly credibility," Mitchell said. "I'm confident the regents will raise the level of scholarship at CU by sending him packing."

Ward Churchill should be shot at next weeks hearing. Then we wouldn't have to worry about his tenure.
However I live in Colorado and I would expect the regents of CU being the good little socialists they are will not fire him but reward him for lying, misrepresenting and plagiarizing.

The more I hear about Colorado, the more I think about the song by John Denver "Rocky Mountain High". His hair alone makes him look like a drug addicted hippy. He could probably get a job at that high school where the guest lecturer encouraged the students to experiment in gay sex and drugs. I used to drink Coors, but there might be something in the spring water out there.

If he isn't I think things will go very badly for that university economically and enrollment wise.
That man is a disgrace and should be stripped of his title, tenure and degree, then he probably will still be an infection on academia with whatever books he publishes or whereever he is hired as a public speaker.
I believe he will be fired, but is that enough?

Isnt it funny how the flag burners on here group the fabrication of stories and free speech together?
My favorite Ward Churchill lie is his claim of Native American ancestry.

The Peoples Republic of Colorado deserves him. Maybe once he's out on his butt he can scoot over and tell high school students they should do drugs and have unprotected sex. (The latest hobby for washed up hippies in Co.)

Not for simply expressing an opinion. However if the school is correct and he has committed plagiarism then that is a completely different issue.

He should be fired, he should also be told to change his last name as he does not deserve to bear the same last name as my distant cousin Winston Churchill, Britain's greatest Prime Minister ever.

He should be fired, but for the right reasons, namely, that he is liar and plagiarist. He should not be sacked because of his evil views, as otherwise that will be used as an excuse to get rid of the small number of conservatives in academe.
