It is definitely a concern. I blame parents and I blame school systems.

Parents often hate talking about the subject with their kids and often use the abstinence only approach. And school districts are more likely to cut Health classes than any other program when budget cuts arise.

No one is educating these kids. They just see it as fun and exciting and not as a responsibility. Someone really needs to show them that their are consequences to their actions.

Having sex (sometimes promiscuous) and being a responsible parent are two very different things but as you know those two things go hand in hand. One can lead to the other.
I always thought someone should have to go through a long arduous interviewing process to become a parent. You should be responsible, stable, mature, patient, have some money in the bank and over the age of 21...etc, etc. to be a parent.
Unfortunately that's not how it works. You can be 16 a high school drop-out and find yourself pregnant (maybe on purpose) and then make the brainiac decision that you're going to keep the baby. Why? Because you're very selfish and immature (not you asker)
That is part of the reason why the world is the way it is today.

Sadly, many people reach the age where they can engage in sexual activity without the basic knowledge God gives clams.

It is heartening that a) these people are at least out there asking some questions, and b)have enough smarts to operate a computer and find a place to ask said questions.

I have often wondered why there isn't something like a Driver's License course for sex. You know. Go to class, get the basic instructions for safety and cleanliness and whatnot.

A learner's permit (no passengers and no activities after dark), and finally a license!

It could solve a whole LOT of problems.

...I wonder what the instructional films would be like...?

Best wishes!

I do find it scary that women/girls are having sex with so little understanding of their bodies, cycles, how to protect themselves from pregnancy and STD's. The adults in their lives and doctors have obviously failed them but it is so easy to look this stuff up on line. The last place I would get sex or female health advise is Yahoo answers.

No kidding. It's one reason I've made it a minor hobby to answer them, to cut down on the number of "baby mamas" around the world. I'm in no way an expert, but 1/2 a clue is better than none at all.

Yes it's very saddening to see that. Makes me wonder where the hell there parents were at when they were growing up. In my town all I see is kids raising kids makes me cringe every time I see a 15 year old walking down the street pushing a stroller with two little ones walking closely behind...

Parents today do not teach there children about anything. They just hand them a credit card and the parents leave on a trip for three months.

Worry? No. Terrify? Yes.

We obviously can't solely rely on parents to educate their children on sexual matters; they're not doing it. We need age-appropriate, science-based sex education in the schools.

It just bums me out that some try so hard to become parents, and would do such a great job, and can't get pregnant...then you have these young kids changing their lives forever through ignorance and bad choices.
