The best thing to ask for, is nothing. Instead of being another greedy human being and asking for a gift on your birthday, why don't you tell your parents that you don't need a gift this year? On my 16th birthday, I baked my own cake and that was my party - I gave my cake to my friends and had a ball hanging out with them. I didn't ask for gifts once - I actually told my friends that if they felt they really "owed me", they could draw me a picture.
I'm only a year older than you, let's not forget.
It might be your birthday, but you don't need a gift just because you're a year older. Instead, celebrate the fact that you're 16, you can get a better job, and you're (in most states in the U.S) allowed to get your permit and begin driving.

You should not ask for anything just thank your parents for bringing you into this world and keeping you alive this long.
