Take the advise of the people that say do not clean it. It will lose value if you do. If it is a very rare coin it can be sent in to have it done by the pros. They know when they can or can't do the job right.

Don't clean the coin. Take it to a coin exchange and let them value it for you. Cleaning it will take away the value. Good luck!

Don't clean it ! ! ! Collectors like the natural "patina" (wear and tarnishing) that comes with circulating a coin. It might look nicer, but it will look fake . . .
