I have had a course of anti -biotics but I'm still getting slight back ache and tum discomfort. Pain is not severe but more annoying. Have you had cystitis linger after treatment? Any tips?

Particularly if the antibiotic was chosen blind, that is on a best guess, ( this is the normal method) there is always a chance that the bacterium was not sensitive.

It is normal on the second time round to check a mid-stream urine before prescribing a second antibiotic, drink plenty of fluids in the mean time ( cranberry juice is no better than water) and hand a sample in on Monday morning. Some GPs will issue a second prescription once the sample is in, rather than waiting for he result.

Cystitis and a urinary infection...which one are you asking about?
To help you get over the infection get cranberry juice and drink it religiously for several weeks.
Your body can become resistant to antibiotics so you need to talk to your doctor and look into alternative therapies.

You need to go back and get your urine tested. The antibiotic may not have totally cleared it up. Go back and get checked out again to be sure the med worked. Also when you have a urinalysis that is positive be sure to request that they do a culture and sensitivity so they know for sure what bug is causing it and what med will actually take care of it.

This may sound strange but do you wear thong underwear? They are notorious for causing reoccurring uti's. If you do you might want to switch back to regular undies for a while. My daughter had the same problem and when she stopped wearing the thongs the uti's went away as well.
