Been there, done that. Approach friends and friends of friends. Tell them exactly what's going on. that you can't afford to pay them. Offer something in return if you can like cold drinks (soda, beer, whatever they prefer), lunch (sandwiches or a pizza) or free babysitting for a day/weekend.
If you can't get any men to help, don't knock the women. We are very capable of doing a lot of things. Ask your female friends. See if someone has a truck and small trailer that you can borrow. Tell them you'll leave it full of gas for letting you use it (and please do so). Or check into how much it would cost to rent a U-haul (or similar) moving van for the day. (usually a day doesn't cost too much)
Move as much of the smaller stuff yourself in your car. You'd be surprised how much you can do like this, even if you have to make a few trips.
There are still a lot of people willing to help those in need if you will just look around. Good luck!

Well, darling, I could probably shift some things in the linen closet to give you some room, and the majority of my furniture is already from IKEA, but there's not a whole lot of room, and the offspring makes an awful lot of noise. Oh, yes, and no Mitt. (((P)))

Just make some sandwiches and have some cokes chilling in the cooler, from their, offer it to guys passing by, if they can help "rearrange" some things for you. Once the work starts, it will have slipped their minds that they are not "rearranging" but they are actually moving heavy things for you. They are just looking forward to that cold drink.

Sorry to say this, but if you were the type of girl who could get men to help her move for free, you wouldn't need to ask this question.
Your real question is," How can I use someone for my own selfish purpose and give them nothing in return?"
Maybe that's why you don't know anyone that will help you. Time to take a good look at yourself in the mirror...assuming that you get someone to move your mirror for you, that is....

1.Ask your friends/your son's friends/neighbors to a beer party/moving party
2. If you have no friends who are able to do this, ask at your local senior citizen center or your church if they have a list of volounteers who might be willing to help.
If you aren't yourself elderly or feeble, save up your money till you have enough to hire a handyman to help you do it.
