The hymen is the thin membrane that sometimes covers the opening to the vagina if you're a virgin. I say "sometimes" because, even if you haven't had sex, the hymen can do a bit of a disappearing act due to an overzealous workout at the gym, horseback riding, tampons, and even passionate "heavy petting" with your boyfriend. (It's not an impenetrable barrier, anyway, as it has holes to allow menstrual blood to escape.) The perineum is the smooth area of skin between the anus and the vaginal opening. It's highly sensitive to sexual stimulation because the hidden part of the clitoris lies directly beneath it.

Depending on the sport activity or if you fell on something, yes, it could happen.

Yes, you can, although usually there has to be some form of impact with that area. But climbing and jumping and using a bike and all that could break your hymen. What you describe does sound like that's what happened to you.

But it doesn't mean you're not a virgin, just that you have broken your hymen.

The hymen may be broken via many things different than intercourse. Horseback using, bicycling, activities... So that's achievable that that's been broken and he or she would not comprehend, in spite of the undeniable fact that she would bleed and experience some soreness on the time.

Yes. The piece of skin referred to as the hymen varies in thickness from female to female and can stretch or break easier than others. It's no big deal.

But like the last poster said, you are still a virgin regardless.
