I dont think that transparent tape has the resistance to hold it in place. Pop out too the local hardware store and get some black electricians tape
Try to lay the wires down as they were if frayed, or in a functioning position if it impedes functionality, and wrap it VERY TIGHT with the electricians tape. Transparent/Scotch tape is inappropriate for this most of the time, and the scotch tape melts very easily. Now if you have the guts you could seal this by using a heat gun on low and melting the tape just right or not glue all over it. Tape, the black electrical tape is the best kind

EDIT: The melting instructions refer to the Scotch or transparent taps. the electricians tape is heat resistent

it will hold for the time being. but i suggest getting a new cable on ebay. If that cant wait then goto the store and get some electrical tape.

Hi,

Transparent tape is not the best solution for this.
If available try to isolation tape or something like that.
I would not let it as it is now..
