Socialism is govt ownership of property (farms, factories, etc.)

The type of surveillance you are talking about is not socialist.

It's not even fascist -- which is attempted control of people and denial of their civil liberties. Other programs (like the MCA) are fascist. But not that one.

So, while his wiretapping programs are often illegal and unconstitutional (according to federal courts) they are neither socialist nor communist nor fasicst.

Phone taps and domestic soying are not socialist. These are more associated with totalitarinism, and dictatorships, which are not necessarily socialist. Socialism is an economic term.

Bush is a registered Republican who is a liberal.

As a conservative, I disagree with many things that he's done, including fiscal irresponsibility and allowing the government to grow larger. I just don't waste my time sitting around here and backslapping with the Bush bashers, mostly because their political ideology and mine differ.

You asked a question about stereotyping and right now, that's precisely what you are doing.

You can pry without being a socialist. A government can interfere in your lives without being socialist. A government can control your thoughts without being socialist. A government can silence your voice without being socialist.

Please don't believe everything you may read from CIA propaganda during the red scare.

But these restrictions and violations are perpetrated against private citizens while corporations are given free reign and government influence.

That's not socialism. It's fascism.

Bush a socialist? No way. Have you ever read anything about Carl Marx and socialism. Just ask Hillary, she is a big fan of Marx, did her UG thesis on him

The wire tapping you refer to was started under Jimmy Carter. He did what he did because he was looking into potential terrorists. We monitored international calls between suspected terrorists or their sympathizers here in the US. Nothing wrong. If you condemn him, pour it on Clinton and Carter also.

He is a big government Republican. I am still angry at Medicare part D
