Hi, I'm from New Zealand. City: Auckland
Good thing: Auckland is the biggest Polynesian city in the world, I love Auckland for it's cultural diversity. It's a big melting pot.
Bad thing: Auckland is becoming too commercialized. The price of living here is ridiculous (house prices, renting). And our central business district is catered more so for the tourist, than for it's city or its people.

I'm FROM Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. I left in '55, so I really don't know too much about it, but I've been back a few times.
I 'grew up' in Milford, Delaware. It has grown quite a bit since '65. It's a friendly small town, multi-cultural. Not a whole lot there; you have to go south and north for 'culture.' Seems everyone knows everyone and when folks need help, there's someone always there to lend a hand.
I've lived in Virginia Beach, Va since 1976. There are so many things to do in this area. We are close to the beach (I live 3 miles west), we have museums, theater, concerts, sports arenas, cultural events, a huge botanical center, several nature reserves to roam around in. Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens is just 45 minutes to the north. Yorktown (Revolutionary War center) is just east of that. There is the Pungo (look THAT town up!) Strawberry Festival, the Suffolk Peanut Festival, Afram Festival in Norfolk, Bike Week in Virginia Beach. We have the largest Navy base on the east coast There are 5 Navy bases (Norfolk Naval Base, Naval Air Station Norfolk, Little Creek Amphibious Base, Naval Air Station Oceana {with Fentress Air Field a few miles away...laid out so at night it looks like an air craft carrier from the air}, Dam Neck training center...several schools there). Two Army bases(Ft. Story, Ft. Eustis), an Army National Guard Base (Camp Pendleton) an Air Force base (Langley)and a Coast Guard station (Portsmouth) within about 1/2 hour of each other. At Ft. Story are two famous light houses. I could go on and on, but if you ever plan to come here, go to www.hamptonroads.com for more info. The weather is seldom a critical factor. It has a lot to do with where we are situated on the Chesapeak Bay (tends to reflect nor' easterners.) We don't get the bad weather the DelMarVa peninsula gets or the Newport News area. Also when storms come from the south, the Outer Banks act as a buffer. It seldom snows and if it does, if it lasts the day, it's gone the next. Seldom freezes.
What's bad? Too many people for the roads to handle at times.

New York City, NY

Good - you can pretty much find anything here, and it's extremely active City, it's a hub for Art and Music, and All bands HAVE to make a stop here, so you never miss a tour.

Bad - Things are getting a bit to strict after 9/11, High Cost of living (1000 dollar apartments are becoming more and more rare), Car insurance can be so much it stops you from buying a 750 dollar car, New York doesn't have the friendliest people on earth, and the court system here is one of the most biased in the country.

Good ... There are many good things, is more like a big town, near the sea, the town has lots of character, cobbled streets, street entertainment, tourists, a good buzz about the place, nice cafes & restaurants, lots of festivals here also, Arts Festival will be on soon, is very scenic also & so much safer than bringing my son up in London as he can play out with his friends.... Bad..... is expensive to live in Ireland now, public transport is not good, some people are narrow minded & have old fashioned way of thinking but young people are different, some rich people think they are better than others with their snotty bitter eyed faces :)

Canberra ACT, Australia

Good thing - Fantastic lifestyle and very clean city

Bad thing - Poor urban planning resulting in congested roads and lack of parking in key areas

(To the person above me from Pittsburgh, I agree with you. I stayed for a weekend about ten years back and found the people to be very freindly. Pittsburgh - that's gold mate)
