The house we moved into had a terrible smoke smell. I bought a 12 lb bag of baking soda for about $5 at the wholesale store and sprinkled it on the carpets and let it sit overnight... The smell is completely gone.... It's cheap/easy.. You may have to empty your bagless vacuum or use a new bag after you do a room or two... Also, open the windows and air out the house....Good luck..

My friend and her husband chain amoke in their house. they used febreeze to no avail cause it is very perfumey and once that smell goes the smoke smell was still around. I gave her a bottle of ODOBAN, which is cheaper than Febreeze but in the same Wal-Mart isle, and it has a very light smell. I use it in my boys' bathroom as well as carpets and microfiber furniture. It actually kills the bacteria that makes the smell so it doesn't come back. You also won't feel like you've been attacked by a florist.

Well the easiest way to do that is to get the carpet cleaned other wise if it doesn't come out it is probably in the pad under the carpet and you have to replace that.

Unfortunately you may never get that smell out. It is in the carpet and in the pad. It may just have to be replaced. If you wet it with a steam cleaner, it will smell better for a day or two but once it dries, it will smell the same.

Have the carpet clean by professional, and have them put down an deodorizer. Not smoking indoor could help as well : )

Steam clean them and let the house air out when you can.
