I was at Dunkin Donuts and I after I paid with a $10 bill they gave my change back, and in the change there was a canadian penny. This is absolutely disgraceful ... receiving international money in AMERICA. What's wrong with this country? America is being taken over by the mexicans ... now the canadians?

American money is worth more than canadian so I didn't get back what I should have. Isn't that illegal that they gave me international currency? If not, it should be. Disgusting.

Apparently some of you don't think this is a big issue. Well it is. Let's just see what Lou Dobbs has to say about this and I'm writing to the county to do something about it.

wow..relax Jessie. I'll exchange the penny for you.
You should get out more. USA is wonderful...but explore a little.
You might just find yourself mistakenly giving a hryvna to someone on a purchase someday.

Hi
To put things in perspective a Canadian dime would short change You by 1/2 cent American.

It's just as likely that I will get American change where I live- its a border area and the clerks don't have time to check every penny, just reuse it in the same store next time.
I trust that the next time you come to Canada you will make sure that you have removed ALL of your American money from your wallet?

As a Numistmatist, I know the penny in question looks same almost but not zinc but copper. The "silver" sticks on vending machines' magnets as it contains iron or steel.
The invasion is nearly complete in areas. Some cities have 7 free newspapers all in Spanish on most street corners...indicates an over-run area. Insurance goes through the roof. Car insurers want to leave off "uninsured motorist"
I went to school with a number of Latinos and most do not simpathize with illegals. Their parents went thru the legal hassle, expense, and they LOVE their country.
Besides years ago, there was no welfare hammock, free food cards, healthcare for free, shots, etc.
Mexico jails illegals, esp GRINGOS and they treat them like they do not belong in Mexico. You can see for yourself online the STRICT LAWS. Get injured in Mexico? You could die before anybody "good samarttans" you, forget the hospital, unless you have cash that didn't vanish when you got hurt.

oh settle down - it is just a penny. It looks almost exactly like an american penny and it is pretty common that they are mistaken, and have been for 50+ years. The country isn't being "taken over" by Canadians just because you were given one of their pennies. Use it as a penny at another store - if you don't want it - geez.

What a life you must lead. Worried about a Canadian penny returned to you in change. My God. If you feel that strongly about it, return to the dunkin donuts, tell them you received a Canadian penny in error, and would like a US one returned to you. Problem solved

Gees, lady get off your high horse. Our money is almost on par with yours these days & our cash registers and pockets are just as full of American change (and we don't get any more for it at the bank).

So go pay for your next donut with your Canadian change - the weight goes on equally no matter what coin you use.

get your big girl panties unbunched...it's a penny.

"Excuse me, could I have an American penny, instead?"

as an aside- the Canadian penny is solid copper, and worth MORE [ in metal value ] than the copper/zinc change in your pocket.

1 cent American equals 1 cent Canadian and they look almost exact if you are not paying attention. This happens all the time so dont feel like the lone ranger. The bank probably didnt even catch it.
