They are thankful for food and water and a roof over their heads. We are thankful for fancy homes, big cars, and influence over others. I genuinely desire the hope that they have! The heck with the big home and fancy cars! They don't matter. People are what matter!...................

Big Homes and fancy cars are only unimportant by-products of the same advances that bring longer lives, better health, more human rights (slavery existed throughout human history until the last century), and more food per world capita than ever before.

There's been an equivalent to big houses and fancy cars since before the pharoahs had palaces and four-horse chariots. But the average human has not had the combination of advances in medicine, science, food production, communications, travel, and human rights in more abundance than we have RIGHT NOW.

By all measures, we're far more civilized.

I dont think so because we have slipped away in our morals because of money, power, and influence. Family doesnt matter anymore. Values dont matter any more. What matters today is what feels good. I believe that tribes in remote areas are more civilized than we are because they love each other and are together as one unit.

Nope, society on a whole is on a downward spiral.
