The answer is C: 12(8x-1)

try multiplying the others out and it doesn't work:

12x(8-1) would give you 96x-12x
12(x-8) would give you 12x-96
12x(8x-1) would give you 96x^2 -12x

Factor the expression so that you can take out the greatest common prime factors from each term which would be 2 from each term.

96 factored into its prime factors is: 2 2 2 3 4
12 factored into its prime factors is: 2 2 3

So the GCF is 2 2 3 or 12

[ (2)(2)(2)(3)(4)(x) - (2)(2)(3) ]= 12(8x-1)

Please note that you have an extra x in your last line in your Question
