As of next Tuesday the new Federal Minimum Wage will be $5.85! I feel like this is just ridiculous "WHO" could live on this? I feel like this is a disgrace!
I was making more than that in the 70's

It is going up to $5.85 soon. But many states in the US have a higher minimum wage that overrides the federal minimum wage...here in NY for example, I think it's $7.15 now.

Federal minimum wage is currently $5.15 an hour, but it goes up to $5.85/hr. starting Tuesday July 24th.
However, each city & state has the right to raise it's own minimum wage, if it chooses.
In California, the minimum wage is $7.50/hr, but in San Francisco, where I live, it's $9.14/hr.

It does depend on the state.
In my state its 5.15 for small businesses (under 100 employee's)
And 6.15 for large businesses.
