I bought a pair of ghost shrimp for my betta's 2.5 gallon tank to help clean it. I put them in, but Monet, my betta, seems to be picking on them. He keeps puffing up at them and darting around in a circle as though trying to coral them.

I am worried about his being to stressed having them around. Should I take them out, or just wait and see if he calms down and gets used to them?

It sounds cruel, but I dont really care if he eats them---providing they dont hurt him when he eats them. They were 30 cents, and I love my betta, and I certainly care about him more than a couple shrimp.

Im just worried about him being too stressed out having them around. Im just not sure if I should pull them out and toss them in to my community tank, or wait and see if he settles down and gets used to them

He is investigating them and trying to see if he can eat them. He's not stressed out about them being there, but they are certainly stressed over his attention. It's really doubtful that he will ever leave them alone and in fact will probably keep it up until he kills and eats them to be honest. If you have some where you can keep them, then you should move them.

ADDITION: If it's all the same to you, you can leave them, they will just be live food for him eventually. Nothing will be harmful for him about that.

I'm not sure if he wants to eat him, but I think he's just checking them out. If you want your shrimp to stay in peace, you can add a hiding place that's small enough for the shrimp to get in, but not the betta.

.Take them out and return the to the store or put them in a diffrent tank. He is flairing at them. And darting into them, (Trying to kill them in other words). Remove them and do NOT add any other tank mates into your bettas tank.
People may have told you that the can be with bettas, All bettas are diffrent. Dont add anymore tank mates.
