That would depend on where your water comes from. If from a municipal system you can contact them. If it is a private well then the condo association should be contacted. There many be nothing that can be done if it is not dangerous other that installing your own water filter.

Your neighbor, to start with. Taste thier tap water to make sure it's a consistent problem in the building. Then, if possible, somewhere close by, such as a restaurant. See if the water in the area tastes strange because you aren't used to it or if your water is the only one that tastes bad. If it's the water in the area, there is very likely nothing you can do other than buy bottled water (and chances are, it just tastes odd because you aren't used to it).

If it is just you, or just the condo, then check the plumbing. How old is it? It may need to be replaced, either the main or the pipes in your condo. But (EEK!) this is very expensive. Also, check with the water company to see if they will test your water (or if they know a place that will).

Good luck.

If you have a municipal water(city water)supply, call the water department. If you are on a well system, look in the yellow pages for a water testing lab. They will both come out and take samples and test it for impurities. As for paying for it, the municipality should not charge you. The lab will, but if there is a problem, you may be able to get your condo association to reimburse you.

Tap water always tastes "funny".

You should get a yearly water report. If you have city water, it should be safe to drink... but you could always go to your local home improvement store to buy a test kit.

You own the condo, so you cant call anyone... if you want to buy a filter or water softener... go for it.... it's your home.

There are numbers for the Water Department in your local phone book. If you call them, they should send someone out there to test it for metals or other chemicals. If you get nowhere with that, I would call your State government representative or Senator (not the one in Washington DC) They actually can call other government agencies and get stuff handled for you
