I generally attribute incomprehensibly stupid acts to incompetence until evil intent can be proven.

I don't know if evil is the right word. I think our perception is completely screwed. We have been taught that we have a voice and that we make up our government. We for some reason believe that we have "evolved" from our barbaric ancestors, and have somehow become a peaceful species. These two things aren't true. But when you live with the perception that they are, then yes, this administration could be considered evil. When you remove your brain from the box the government has been holding it in for centuries, the administration isn't evil at all - it is strategic. Consider this - what are the goals for the Iraq War? The real goals, not the crap they spout on TV. Do you think those goals have much to do with creating Democracy in a foreign land? No. Those goals include control over the American people and control over an area rich in a vital resource. Leaders have been doing it since the beginning of time. They see something they want, and they take it. They drag their minions behind and convince them it's for the good of the colony... In this perspective, the administration is having much success, and isn't incompetent at all.

This is an argument that need not take place. If they are pink elephants drinking martinis in the Sistine Chapel, what does it matter. What we should be discussing is how to put the brakes on an administration that is running this nation into the ground. Dark S says that the nation is healthy-how is that possible when we are borrowing over $1 billion a day from China and Japan just to keep the nation running. Someone is going to have to pay that money back and it won't be Bush/Cheney, Gore, Clinton (either of them), Kerry, Kennedy, Hatch, Lieberman, or anyone else in the upper echelons of government.
What the American people don't realize is this-our country is like a 747 that has been hijacked to commit a crime. Once the crime is complete, the hijackers, with all of the loot that they stole from the U.S. treasury with tax breaks for the wealthy 1% of this nation (who own 90% of the nation's wealth), by funding this ridiculous war and the war profiteering Eisenhauer warned us about (http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=War_profiteering),
they will relocate like some of the Nazis did after WWII and live out their days wealthy and safe while the rest of us become slaves to China and Japan as we try to pay back the insurmountable debt that is owed.
We're far from healthy...like the USSR during the 70's, we're on life support.

I would say power drunk and greedy. The Iraq war was planned from the beginning of the Bush administration. I feel the main reason is the fact that the Bushies subscribe to the world view of organizations such as PNAC. They basically advocate using military force to impose a system of government like ours on the people of other countries. The icing on the cake is the massive profits that are being made by companies that paid for his campaign, usually through no bid contracts.

Neither. Whats corrupt and evil is your lack of understanding the bigger picture of national defense and world dynamics. Your hate filled mind clouds your ability to reason. Like most Liberals you are lazy and look for easy solutions to complex problems. To fail to see that Islamic Fundamentalists in Iraq want to destabilize the interim government, and defeat the great Satin (America), to allow them a victory, in the long term will cause more American and world casualties than you can imagine. Hate and laziness is not the answer. A realistic defeat of those that in their heart want to kill or convert you is the solution.

I choose self-serving as my adjective.
One thing for sure. Anyone they do serve is wealthy; and the intent is for the wealthy to pull up the ladder.
Cheney hides in a bunker.
What does that tell you?

His Administration is anything but incompetent. They know what they are doing and it is all going according to plan. They are quite busy furthering the neo-conservative movement no matter what the American people think. A long drawn out war in Iraq benefits them in many ways. One being we are able to establish permanent military bases in Iraq. Oh but then again why should they control their own oil, its not like we need it in the future right?
