There was a recent news story about a dog that got into a lady's purse and ate $1,000US. My question is how much of a individual actual bill would you still have to have left, so that you can go back to the bank and have them replace it no questions asked. They said that after all was said and done. She was only able to retrieve $700 of the $1,000.
I guess it would be what is the least portion viable, so that it is still considered a legal currency.

The dog had already passed (pooped) the bills, and some were in small pieces, some were larger (the bills, not the poop). So that is the reason I am asking. How much of the actual bill has to be present to still be considered legal.

For a paper bill you have to have more than 50% of the bill still intact to exchange it at a bank. Any less and people would be ripping bills in half.

My dog is up to the next level of stealing from Dad. Somehow she is able to get my wallet no matter where it is. She will take it from the back pocket of my pants or get on top my table, One time I caught her pushing my rolling chair to my desk just to get it off my desk. To top it off she not only eats the money but my credit cards and the wallet. I have been through 4 wallets and about 6 replacement credit cards. They are amazing animals...

I want to know how she retrieved that money. Were any dogs harmed, or did she let nature take its course?
